The Snowy Day & Other Stories by Ezra Jack Keats

A Play Especially For Pre-K - 3rd Grade

Performing now at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts

My son and I were privileged to preview this adorable performance based on Ezra Jack Keats’ children’s books.  We have been reading Snowy Day for a few years.  It was so fun to watch my son react to seeing the characters on stage.  The run time is perfect at 45 minutes.  My son never got bored or antsy; he was completely enthralled by the actors.  The children that would enjoy the show the most are aged pre-k through 3rd grade.  There is even a space right up front for kids to sit!

Each story follows young Peter as he explores his neighborhood and the adventures he is taken on.  The play opens with The Snowy Day and is followed by other favorites Whistle for Willie, Goggles and A Letter to Amy.

I absolutely loved Robert Lee Hardy’s performance of Peter.  He perfectly captured Peter’s excitement of the first snow and the simple ways children entertain themselves.  The performance encouraged children to laugh, cheer and bounce balls as the actors raced around the audience.

This production kicks off the new Theatre for Young Audiences program.  Each performance will focus on performances especially tailored for young children.   I would encourage you to bring your little ones to their first theatre experience and relive the moments of your childhood through their eyes.

The Snowy Day and Other Stories by Ezra Jack Keats will be playing September 21st – November 18th in the Conservatory Theatre.  Monday, Wednesday and Friday show times are 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.  Thursdays are at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday matinee times are 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.

I was given tickets to this show however, all thoughts are my own.  I really did love seeing this show with my son.
