Most Denver area schools will be out in just a few short weeks and planning for your child’s summer experiences now is critical. However, searching for camps can be time-consuming and paying for them can be expensive. Blueprint4SummerCO, a free, easy-to-use, mobile-friendly website for parents with school-aged children 3-18, not only makes searching for camps easy it’s now making it more affordable by giving away one free week of camp this summer at (valued at $375).
Between May 6 and May 24, parents can go to www.blueprint4summer.com/co , click “search summer sessions” and create a free account. In the promo code box enter Camera2019. A winner will be randomly selected Friday, May 24th for a free weekly camp happening between June 10-Aug. 2. Talk to the Camera summer camps are created to spark imagination and boost self-confidence through moviemaking and video creation.
Blueprint4SummerCO, brought to Colorado by Denver non-profit ReSchool, provides an organized, searchable way to access more than 3,500 summer classes, camps and activity programs for children in the Denver Metro area. Over half of the listings on Blueprint4SummerCO are free or low-cost and 62 percent offer scholarships helping to ensure that cost isn’t a barrier to access for families. In addition, ReSchool raised $65,000 in scholarship money and helped unlock scholarships available through camp providers for kids that need it.
Parents can search for activities on Blueprint4SummerCO based on any number of preferences such as age, gender, interests, cost, and zip code – even special considerations such as sessions for students with disabilities or gifted students, those offering before and after care, or that have scholarships available. The search page can be displayed in multiple languages through Google Translate and provides information about day camps, sleep-away camps and sports camps; art, music and science programs; free activities, and academic enrichment courses.
New this year, the Blueprint4SummerCO website now includes a database of opportunities for high school-aged students preparing for college. The College Prep national database is accessible through Blueprint4SummerCO and lists thousands of opportunities in Colorado and across the U.S. For example, students can attend experiences to prepare for college-level music courses, conduct research on a topic of interest, find a paid internship, join a community service institute to earn college credit, take a dance or swim camp to prepare for college-level competitions, learn about college admissions and living, and prepare for ACT or SAT tests.
Talk with your kids about what they want to do this summer ahead of time – and review camp options together. That way you can all agree on what they want to do most and what fits your budget.
