Colorado Ballet's 59th Production of The Nutcracker Dazzles Again!

Don't Miss This Beloved Denver Tradition

By By Mikele Burcaicea Ibrahim Publisher of Downtown/Central Denver December 10, 2019

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the much-loved production of The Nutcracker.  I know there are a ton of different productions of The Nutcracker, but this production by the Colorado Ballet, well, it knocked my socks off.  The lighting and costumes are amazing.  While some productions just tell the story, the Colorado Ballet transports the Ellie Caulkins theater to a magical land.  I can easily see attending this ballet as a family becoming a tradition.

In an effort to constantly attract a younger fan base the Colorado Ballet has incorporated a few not so conventional ballet steps.  I am pretty sure I spotted the Macarena, the Dab, and even the Floss.  I challenge you to find these and more that I may have missed!

Not only will you be thrilled by the beautiful dancers, but you will also become emersed in the live music performed by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra and a live chorus of local school children.

Families have made lifelong memories at Colorado Ballet’s The Nutcracker for 58 seasons. It is a treasured holiday tradition for many and its popularity continues to grow—many performances sell out before opening night and two performances are already sold out. Get your tickets early for the best availability to enjoy one of Colorado’s favorite holiday traditions.

“Bring your family and friends to Colorado Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker this season to experience sheer joy, get into the holiday spirit and see fantastic dance,” states Colorado Ballet Artistic Director Gil Boggs. “I’m proud of our spectacular Nutcracker production that audiences have loved for decades, and we can’t thank them enough for their support.
