Every family has a go to dinner. This is ours! Everyone loves it, it will feed a crowd, and it's super easy. In fact, so easy that I have taught my 11 year old how to make it on his own.
WHAT YOU NEED
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound hot Italian sausage
- 45 - 60 ounces of your favorite spaghetti sauce (I use Ragu Traditional)
- 1 onion (chopped)
- Red Pepper flakes (to taste)
WHAT YOU DO
- Break up the raw meats and put all of the ingredients in the crockpot. (No, you DO NOT have to brown the meat ahead of time!)
- Add red pepper flakes if you'd like.
- Give it a stir.
- Cook on low for 5 1/2 hours.
- Stir it up again and serve over your favorite pasta! (Use gluten free pasta for a completely gluten free meal!)
MOM TIPS:
- My 11 year can make this meal, start to finish, on his own. I do let him chop the onions (and I don't care that the pieces are not uniform), but you may want to supervise that part if your kiddo needs it.
- This is a great time to talk about washing hands before and after meal prep.
- Use the leftovers to make easy sandwiches. Place hot meat sauce and mozzarella cheese on a hamburger or hotdog bun, and voila!
