Get Your Nose in a Book with the Winter of Reading Program for Adults

January 1, 2025

Winter is the perfect time to cozy up with a good book, and Denver Public Library’s Winter of Reading is here to help you get started. Winter of Reading is a FREE program that encourages local residents (ages 17+) to get involved with the library and have some fun with various literacy-themed challenges. Yes, it's a challenge just for adults!

Get Involved!

Visit a DPL library to pick up a Winter of Reading game board or print one at home. Trade in your completed game board (5 or more of the listed activities) for a limited edition mug or tote bag (while supplies last).

Complete this survey to be eligible for a $50 King Soopers gift card prize.

  • Read a friend or family member’s favorite book. What did you read and what did you think of it?
  • Ask library staff what their favorite lesser-known library service is. What is it and will you try it?
  • Re-read a book you loved when you were a child. What book did you revisit and has your opinion of it changed?
  • Check out a cookbook and try a new recipe. What did you try?
  • Complete this form for personalized reading recommendations picked for you by a librarian. What will you read first and why?
  • Read a book in a format you don’t usually use, such as an eBook, audio eBook, or physical book. What did you read and how did the different format change your reading experience?
  • Ask a staff member for an adult coloring page and fill in your favorite books. Which books did you add to your drawing?
  • Ask a librarian for help requesting an item through Prospector or InterLibrary Loan. What did you request?
  • Explore the Mementos from Home exhibit to hear the stories of people who brought a special object with them when they left their home country. What memento from home do you keep with you? (Please contact nap@denverlibrary.org if you would like to share your memento.)
  • Browse our Winter of Reading events and attend one. Which event did you attend?

Completed game boards are due by February 28.
