Five Quick and Easy Halloween-Themed Dinners

By Christen Reiner, Macaroni KID Lakewood-Littleton, Macaroni KID Denver, and Macaroni KID Highlands Ranch-Parker-Castle Rock-Lone Tree Editor and Publisher October 24, 2024

Our family is all about a dinner theme, and Halloween is no different. However, squeezing in dinner, themed or not, is nearly impossible as you are trying to get costumed kiddos out the door... especially if you are trying to beat the crowds with your little ones.

Here are five fun and super easy ideas for your Halloween dinner!

Green Mac and Cheese

Add one extra ingredient to this easy dish and it's perfect for Halloween... a few drops of blue food coloring. The blue mixes with the yellow cheddar, and you've got a Frankenstein-esque meal.

Pro Tip: Make your own all natural blue dye by boiling purple cabbage and using the blue water it creates.

Pumpkin Pizza

Most local and chain pizza restaurants offer pumpkin shaped pizzas. Our favorite is the bake at home version from Papa Murphy's.

Pro Tip: Be sure to reserve your pizza early.

Hotdog Mummies

Cut a tube of refrigerated crescent rolls into strips, and use them to wrap hotdogs like Mummies. Use black olive pieces, mayonnaise, mustard, or peas for eyes. Bake as directed on the crescent roll package and you've got a fun and spooky dinner.

Pro Tip: Don't worry too much about wrapping the hotdogs perfectly. You literally can't mess these up. In fact, this is a fun meal to let the kids help with!

Skeleton Quesadillas

Cut out eyes, noses, and teeth (vertical rectangles) on one tortilla. Stack one tortilla, Monterey Jack, white cheddar, or mozzarella cheese, and top with the skeleton tortilla. Bake for a few minutes or microwave until the cheese is melted.

Pro Tip: Cut a Jack O'Lantern face and use cheddar cheese for another option.

Olive Spiders

Make whatever dinner you want, and decorate it with spiders made of black olives. Cut olives in half (the long way) for the spider body, and little strips for the legs. You can't get easier than that!

Pro Tip: Add gummy worms to the plates for an even creepier look.

Even if you think you are the least creative parent on the planet, you can pull off these fun Halloween dinner ideas. Your kids will be full... and impressed!
