Celebrate National Peanut Butter Day with our 4 Ingredient Cookies

By Christen Reiner, Macaroni KID Lakewood-Littleton, Macaroni KID Denver, and Macaroni KID Highlands Ranch-Parker-Castle Rock-Lone Tree Editor and Publisher January 15, 2025

January 24th is National Peanut Butter Day. Spread the news!

Mmmmmm... peanut butter.

It has come a long way since the Aztecs and Incas created the peanut butter paste that started it all, back in 1000 BC.

Peanut Butter was officially introduced to the world at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis, Missouri, but it took awhile to really catch on. These days, peanut butter is enjoyed in many different ways, and it's tough to find anyone who doesn't like it.

Why should you always keep a jar of peanut butter in your car?

In case there's a traffic jam!

Celebrate National Peanut Butter Day

There are lots of ways to celebrate National Peanut Butter Day, and most of them involve eating peanut butter, of course! How will you celebrate?

Peanut butter and jelly

An easy and portable meal, and will always remind me of my dad. He was a pilot, and he packed a PB&J to keep in his flight bag for every flight. He never knew when he'd need to bust into the back up meal. He has probably eaten thousands of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in his lifetime.

Peanut butter and chocolate

My favorite dessert combination. Choose a pre-made treat or make your own.

Peanut butter cookies

I don't always have time to make cookies from scratch, but these easy peanut butter cookies are totally doable with only four ingredients... and they are the perfect way to celebrate National Peanut Butter Day! They are also gluten free, a must for my daughter, who has Celiac Disease.

What you need:

  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

What you do:

  1. Mix ingredients
  2. Roll into balls
  3. Roll in sugar if desired (I don't)
  4. Criss cross (#) using a fork on the top
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes
  6. Let cool (or not!) and enjoy!

Peanut butter bird feeders

Share your love of peanut butter with your friends in nature! Coat a pinecone, empty toilet paper roll, or stick with peanut butter, roll it in birdseed, and hang it on a tree for the birds and squirrels. Be sure to tie a string to it first!

No matter how you celebrate, National Peanut Butter Day is sure to be a tasty time for all!
