Feeding Pets When Times are Tough

By Christen Reiner, Macaroni KID Lakewood-Littleton, Macaroni KID Denver, and Macaroni KID Highlands Ranch-Parker-Castle Rock-Lone Tree Editor and Publisher February 12, 2025

National Love Your Pet Day is celebrated every year on February 20. About 60% of US Households own at least one pet, and we are guessing that nearly 100% of them want to show their love to their pets on National Love Your Pet Day (and every day!).

However, sometimes life circumstances make caring for your pet difficult. Here are some resources that will help you feed your pet when times get tough.

Cat Care Society
5787 W 6th Ave, Lakewood
1st or 3rd Saturday | 10am to noon

Nibbles & Kibbles is Cat Care Society’s emergency food bank that offers free cat food and supplies to people who are experiencing temporary financial challenges. Available items may include litter boxes and scoops, feeding mats, carriers, grooming materials, toys, food and water bowls, electric feeders, harnesses, collars, leashes, and scratchers. Please note that items and quantities are dispersed based on supply.
