First 50 attendees get a mini-pumpkin decorating kit
With this powerful winter storm hitting Colorado right now, Colorado’s Butterfly Pavilion has decided to stay open until 7 p.m. on Halloween, Oct. 31, 2019, for a tropical trick-or-treating experience from 5-7 p.m. for those hoping to escape the ice and snow and still collect some candy! It’s scary easy to stay warm in Butterfly Pavilion’s Wings of the Tropics exhibit because of the 7,200 square-foot, indoor tropical rainforest averages a balmy 70 degrees during the winter and features stunning tropical plants and free-flying butterflies from around the world! And with the sun setting around 6 p.m. on Halloween, guests will get an extra-special treat: experiencing the hooliganism of the Giant Owl Butterfly as it performs its evening ritual of fighting the other males to find a date!
Bugtober: Masquerade
Butterfly Pavilion’s special October exhibit, Bugtober: Masquerade will also stay open until 7 p.m. on Thursday to showcase the master illusionists of the invertebrate world. In this exhibit, Trick-or-treaters (and all guests) can learn how various animals use lavish patterns and colors to stand out from the crowd (like costumes) and startle would-be predators. Whether it is providing unique, hands-on learning experiences in our exhibits and educational programs, conducting new research that sets the standard for zoos across the country or building innovative solutions for species and habitat conservation in countries around the world, Butterfly Pavilion is leading the way in ensuring invertebrates are protected for the future.
